[The Korea Economic Daily] Pamicell Establishes Research-Oriented Medical Institution, “Kim Hyun-soo Stem Cell Clinic”

With stem cell treatments proliferating both domestically and internationally, it is not easy to find a stem cell hospital with proven safety.

In response, PamiCell Co., Ltd.—which developed “Cellgram-AMI,” the world’s first stem cell therapy, and obtained marketing authorization from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) in 2011—announced that it has established the “Kim Hyun-soo Stem Cell Clinic,” a research-focused medical institution.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety recently stated that South Korea ranks second in the world, behind the United States, in terms of clinical research on stem cell therapies. This means South Korea possesses world-class global clinical data regarding stem cell research.

However, the reality is that when people in South Korea think of stem cell therapy, the first thing that comes to mind is not stem cell therapy as a pharmaceutical treatment, but rather stem cell procedures performed in plastic surgery clinics.

In response, the director of the Kim Hyun-soo Stem Cell Clinic stated, “Only through relentless research can we develop optimal treatments, which in turn lead to improved patient health,” adding, “Based on our research-driven expertise, we are conducting clinical trials to develop stem cell therapies and anticancer treatments for brain, spinal cord, heart, liver, and lung diseases.”
Based on this clinical data and experience, the clinic treats intractable diseases. These include central nervous system disorders such as stroke, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and spinal cord injuries, as well as acute myocardial infarction, ischemic cardiomyopathy, cirrhosis, and peripheral artery disease, using stem cell therapy to alleviate symptoms or treat the underlying causes.

Pamisell is currently conducting commercial clinical trials for some of these diseases, and research results demonstrating their efficacy have been published in international academic journals.

Meanwhile, Pamcell has successfully registered a German patent for its dendritic cell production technology and is accelerating research into the development of stem cell therapies by conducting numerous clinical trials for treatments based on mesenchymal stem cells, including therapies for brain and neurological disorders, lung diseases, and liver diseases.
Recently, research results demonstrating the therapeutic efficacy of “Cellgram-SCI,” a stem cell therapy for spinal cord injury, were published, thereby ensuring the safety of research-based stem cell therapies.
